Hi everyone! Do you know “めんそーれ” (menso-re) mean? It is Okinawa dialect, and that means Welcome. If you are interested in Okinawa dialect though my blog, I am happy that. Nowadays, it is only elder people can speak it. Okinawa government tackles to spread it again. I need to study as well, so I will post here when I get it.
Good Chilling Spot in Onna village Okinawa
Have you ever been Onna Station? We call there Onna Eki. (Eki means station). There are a lot of local food, goods and also souvenir. You can also eat some food at outside of Onna Eki.
I always drop by Onna no Eki when I head to the north of Okinawa island because my favorite Okinawa snack there! What is Onna no Eki? It is similar to a farmer’s market, but it also sell souvenirs and you could eat local food or snack there.
As above food picture, it is my favorite Okinawa snack “サーターアンダギー” (sa-ta-andagi). I think it is easy to explain for you that is similar to a doughnut. They have five flavors, regular, brown sugar, banana, taro imo, coconuts and Okinawa sweet potato. It is not sweet much, you could enjoy their natural taste.
If you are lucky, you could eat Mitsuya ball. It is their most popular food. I was not able to get it all the time, but I got it this time! I was super happy. The staff told me that before noon is easy to get it, and her recommendation is that pushing it and making flat. I should have took a picture before pushing it. I was excited too much since it was a freshly fried one. sorry. I highly recommend you that Okinawa snacks サーターアンダギー. Hopefully you could get it freshly fried one 🙂
