Hi everyone! I know the above picture looks delicious, right? When you are in Okinawa, you should not miss Okinawa Soba. It is the best food particularly for lunch. Around Okinawa, there are lots of Okinawa noodle restaurants. Each restaurant has distinctive recipe, ingredient and flavor. I have written about Okinawa Soba before just little a bit, so please check this as well. Here.
The Best Okinawa Soba in the North ” Gushiken soba “
If you are going to the north part of Okinawa, you should drop by Gushiken soba (ぐしけんそば). It is close from Motobu Cherry Blossom Festival. Therefore, I think it is good to have lunch here before heading that festival.
It is quite easy to find Gushiken Soba because of this big sign. Here is also near from Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium.
The interior design is absolutely original Okinawa Soba restaurant atmosphere. You have to take off shoes and then sit there. It is very hard to be relax especially for Western people, I guess. There is also table, but I would like you to try it. You might be not able to sit this Japanese or Okinawan restaurant style again.
Their broth is made by bonito flakes, and the noodle is made there. Their unique point is fried Okinawa tofu on the noodle. Usually top on the Okinawa Soba, we put fish cake which calls Kamaboko in Japanese. I was little a bit surprised that, but it is a wonderful combination. I also ordered Okinawa mix-rice that we call it ” Ju-shi ” (ジューシー). I always order it together when I eat Okinawa Soba. It is the best combination! I love it!
Beside the casher, some traditional okinawan snacks and seasoning are sold there. The snacks would be great for long driving trip 🙂
